Why is it risky?
Melatonin itself has relatively low toxicity, but overdose can still cause GI and nervous system signs, and many gummy formulations contain xylitol, which is separately highly toxic to cats.

Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or paradoxical hyperactivity, tremors with large ingestions.
What To Do
Contact a vet, and check the ingredient label for xylitol specifically.
Notes
The real danger in most melatonin ingestions is the xylitol in the gummy base, not the melatonin.
