Nath

Manufacturer: Nath Mascotas / Affinity Petcare (España)

🟡 MEDIUM — Caution

Why is it risky?

Nath is a Spanish economy-to-mid-range brand produced under the Affinity Petcare umbrella, the same Spanish group that produces Advance (their premium line) and Affinity (their entry-level line). Nath occupies the economy tier: standard dry formulations list cereals prominently alongside named and unnamed animal proteins, and are formulated to meet FEDIAF minimum standards without premium differentiation. Wet food varieties use named protein at concentrations typical of the mass-market segment. Affinity Petcare does employ nutritional teams and has veterinary distribution channels for its Advance premium range, Nath does not benefit from the same formulation investment.

Affected Systems

Digestive · Kidneys

Symptoms

Long-term exclusive feeding: similar concerns to other economy brands, cereal-heavy formulation, weight management difficulties, urinary tract stress.

What To Do

If budget allows, the Advance range (same parent company, different formulation tier) is a significantly better choice at moderate additional cost. Or transition to a WSAVA-compliant brand.

Notes

The Affinity Petcare portfolio quality hierarchy mirrors the pattern seen with Nestlé Purina (Pro Plan vs Go-Cat) and Mars (Royal Canin vs Whiskas): the same corporate group produces both premium and economy lines under different brand names. Advance (Affinity Petcare's premium line) is genuinely mid-to-premium tier with named proteins and controlled formulations, worth considering as an upgrade within the same Spanish corporate ecosystem if switching brands entirely feels like too large a step. Nath Advance exists as a product name within the range, this can cause confusion with the standalone Advance brand. Verify the product line you are evaluating is the Advance standalone premium brand and not a Nath Advance sub-product.
