Epipremnum aureum
Why is it risky?
Pothos contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals throughout all parts of the plant. When chewed or ingested, these microscopic crystals penetrate the soft tissues of the mouth, throat and digestive tract, causing immediate pain and irritation. While rarely life-threatening, exposure causes significant discomfort and can be dangerous if large amounts are ingested.
